A simple adjustment in your diet may help reduce the occurrence of acne flareups; especially before a big event like a wedding.
Sugar itself DOES NOT cause acne but what it does do is cause an increased insulin response in the body which sets off a whole chain of events to occur. With a large spike of insulin, hormone production goes into overdrive which leads to greater productivity in the sebaceous glands. This causes more sebum (facial oil) to be produced thus giving the P.Acnes bacteria more food to grow and multiply rapidly in the pores. More bacteria colonies means a good chance of getting a few blemishes.
Your best bet? Take it easy with refined sugar. If you've got a big event coming up, stop eating refined sugar about one month prior to the event. Overall, maintaining better habits like getting more rest and eating a more-balanced diet leads to healthier skin.

Definitely a big cause of acne. Malnutrition is one of the most important factors to so many negative issues nowadays!
Hello ‘acne’ and thank you for commenting. I appreciate your response and am glad you found this post informative.

Yes Regina! Water is very important to keep things “moving along” within the body and to help remove excess toxins. Keeping things balanced on the inside helps keeps things balanced on the outside! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Don’t forget drinking enough water. I can always tell a difference with the amount of oil on my face if I’ve had enough water.

Thank you for commenting sphin. However, please keep in mind that being “dirty” doesn’t necessarily means it’s a cause for acne. There are many more underlying factors than just that.
